This past spring and early summer season were full of garden designs and installations. Edible forest gardens and native plants have found their way into private residences in the city and country, as well as a local nonprofit, Paradise Valley Farm Camp. I attended a phenomenal 9-day intensive course in Western Pennsylvania on Edible Forest Gardening with Dave Jacke - co-author of Edible Forest Gardens. My fiance, Monica, and I have started a small plant nursery specializing in permaculture plants, and are now up and running!

Me planting a grove of Paw Paw trees around an Oak

The Edible Forest Garden weekend workshop with Eric Toensmeier (advertisement was previous post) went really well. Eric really gave a grounded overview of forest gardening - very accessible! He answered both very "geeky" questions - What species of air potato is that? Dioscorea batatas? - and basic concepts with ease and clarity. He covered lots of useful plant guilds (look forward to a post on my trial of his Sunchoke guild) that he's found to work in his backyard food forest in Holyoke, Massachussets.

Eric Toensmeier demonstrating how to plant an Asian Pear

Regeneratively Yours,
Aaron Guman
Permaculture Designer, Grower and Educator
gumanpermaculture@gmail.com

Plants For Sale!

Hey Folks -

It's been a real busy spring of installation, workshops, plant starts and searching for a farm to call "home."
